Owen’s work extends beyond photography to span fine art, film and technology. His approach to still life embraces experimentation and new technologies across still and moving image.
Drawing direct inspiration from science and the natural world, he often works with organic forms, alchemical and elemental processes, including his renowned exploration of liquid and texture.
“I’m interested in the ‘unseen’ aspects of the natural world, particularly things at very small scales, and things that happen very quickly – there’s so much detail we just can’t resolve at the human scale and timeframe.“
Originally studying music composition, his interest evolved to film, photography and CGI. The dynamic meeting place between diverse and sometimes opposing techniques, approaches and processes is at the heart of Owen’s practice.
